Julius Chacha Maroa

Senior Partner

Julius Chacha Maroa is a Senior Partner at JDA Advocates LLP and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, widely recognised for his leading expertise in conveyancing, real estate, and land transactions. He is a Certified Secretary, a registered Patent Agent, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Kenya and UK branches), and an experienced governance and ESG auditor, enabling him to blend technical legal skill with strong governance, compliance, and risk management insight.

Julius is best known for his work in conveyancing and property law. Drawing on his rare experience as a former Land Registrar/Registrar of Titles at the State Department of Lands and Physical Planning, he brings an insider’s understanding of Kenya’s land registration systems, titles, and registries. He advises individuals, investors, developers, and institutions on complex land acquisitions and disposals, due diligence, titles and encumbrances, subdivisions and amalgamations, creation and perfection of charges and securities, long-term leases, and large-scale real estate and mixed-use projects. Clients rely on his practical, solutions-focused approach to unlock difficult registry issues, de-risk transactions, and ensure watertight documentation and compliance at every stage of a deal.

Beyond real estate, Julius regularly advises on commercial structuring, corporate and project documentation, governance frameworks, and regulatory compliance for individuals, corporates, sports organisations, and public entities. His experience as a governance and ESG auditor allows him to design and review structures, policies, and frameworks that align with best practice, legal requirements, and stakeholder expectations, including in sectors where land, infrastructure, and investment intersect.

Julius holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Hons) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law, and is currently pursuing a Master of Laws (LL.M) with the University of London in International Investment Law. This advanced training strengthens the firm’s capability in cross-border investment, real estate investment structures, and international commercial work, positioning him as a trusted advisor on both domestic and investment-related mandates.

Active in sports administration and sports law, Julius also advises on sports governance, regulatory compliance, and commercialisation, complementing his broader corporate and regulatory practice. Alongside his legal work, he manages multiple business ventures in the real estate and sports sectors, giving him a commercial, investor-focused perspective that resonates with entrepreneurs, developers, and institutional clients.

Known for his attention to detail, deep knowledge of land systems, and ability to navigate complex transactions efficiently, Julius is frequently the first call for high-stakes conveyancing, real estate, and land matters in Kenya. He is committed to helping clients grow, invest, and build through sound legal strategy, robust governance, and well-structured property and investment solutions.
