Background and Qualifications

Dennis Mwai Mugo is the Managing Partner of JDA Advocates LLP, where he leads the firm's Dispute Resolution and Real Estate & Conveyancing practices. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

Prior to joining JDA Advocates LLP, Dennis practised with Glascoterose Advocates and KONAN & Associates, where he developed experience in commercial litigation, real estate, banking and corporate advisory. His practice centres on helping businesses, financial institutions, developers, investors and private clients structure transactions, manage legal risk and resolve complex disputes.

Experience

Dennis advises clients throughout the lifecycle of commercial transactions—from structuring and negotiation to dispute avoidance and resolution. His practice bridges transactional and contentious work, enabling him to identify legal and commercial risks early while delivering practical, commercially focused solutions when disputes arise.

He regularly acts in commercial, banking, employment, land and property disputes before courts, tribunals and arbitral forums. He also advises on acquisitions and disposals, project developments, property finance, securities, commercial leasing, sectional title developments, due diligence and complex conveyancing transactions.

Beyond dispute resolution and real estate, Dennis advises on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, contractual risk management and project finance, providing strategic legal guidance on business-critical decisions.

Leadership

Dennis serves as the Managing Partner of JDA Advocates LLP, providing strategic leadership to the Firm and overseeing its Dispute Resolution and Real Estate & Conveyancing practices.

He also serves as the elected Honorary Secretary of Impala Club, where he provides board-level leadership on governance, compliance and institutional policy.
